Victory In Christ

By Heather Baur

I am in the process of learning how to be free from anger. It is something that I have carried on my shoulders since I was a teenager. It has rooted itself so deep that some say it can’t be fixed, though God thinks otherwise.

I will tell you that this anger has caused me and others a lot of hurt. It is not something that you can just undo. If left alone it will be carried from generation to generation. I am not willing to allow my children to experience what I inflict on others and myself. I thought many times that I had given it over to the Lord but then I always seemed to take it back. I am at the point of surrender, just like an addiction it will be one day at a time. Hurt is what I feel when I lose control, it is my way of paying them back. The lie is that it will make you feel better, it always makes it worse! For years I have felt ashamed of the way I behave when I’m angry, but God has taught me that sin is sin. Though we like to put sin in different levels of severity, whether we lie or murder its always bad. I can put this behind me as God continues to remind me that He will allow me to be victorious in this and He always forgives me!

If you or someone you know struggles with anger , seek Godly counsel. Sin always hurts someone, if you keep it in the dark satan will build on it until you crumble. Walk with this pain no longer, He is ready for you to let it go, after all He already knows its there.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 61:1-3

You used to walk in these ways in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. - Colossians 3:7-8

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. - Romans 15:13

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:21

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:2
