Drifting Away?
by Carol Ilbery

A couple of weeks ago, I took my girls to the store for Valentine’s presents. Shortly after walking into the store, Sarah, my 2-½ year-old, saw a balloon. She fell in love with it. The balloon was clear and shaped like an oval resting on its side. Flowers decorated the bottom half while Scooby Doo rested inside the balloon and gazed at a butterfly by his nose. We let her have it, as it seemed a good valentine that didn’t involve candy.
As we continued through the store, she played with her present. She was tabbing at the balloon pretty hard when we heard her start to cry and point up. “My bloon!” It hadn’t been tied very well to it’s string and weight so with a little bat, it came loose and floated away.
Just as the prized balloon floated away because of the duress Sarah placed upon it, we too will drift away under the trials of life if we aren’t tied firmly to Christ.
Are you anchored to a firm foundation or resting on sand?
