A Child's Bold Faith
By Carol Blansett

Approach the Throne with confidence as His child!
“Even a little child shall lead them . . . “
How could one small boy demonstrate an act of faith so small, so minute, yet so profound that it would minister to his Nana on a daily basis? I shall relate to you how this could be!
My five-year-old grandson loves to be at his Nana’s house for an evening or an overnight. He knows how much fun it is to prowl through a basket of assorted bedside items or one by my easy chair, to apply lip balm, file nails ~ his or mine ~ or retrieve any number of items for his inspection and perusal. He doesn’t need to ask, just dives into the assortment shortly after his arrival.
Recently, I supplied him with a thick package of paper placemats, stored and long forgotten. They are scalloped-edged with blue on one side and white on the back, so he can write and draw to his heart’s content. He promptly drew a picture, located the tape, and proceeded to apply it to the front door! I hardly noticed it hanging there until he left, but it was rather startling when the furnace vent would blow it outward and the movement would catch my eye. I wasn’t used to its being there.
My first thought was to move it over or take it down or to the refrigerator, but then I was struck by the fact that he was bold and confident to place it there ~ and without permission! Then I decided that, as he posts pictures on the door at home, he naturally assumed that it was fine at Nana’s house ~ and that I would want it there ~ to remind me of his love and attention when he was away.
The more I thought of it, the more profound this became to me . . . such a small act, and yet it ministered to my very soul! How could I share with others how I felt when I entered or left my front door, or when the furnace blower forced air underneath it to blow that picture to my attention?
The analogy of how boldly we can approach the Throne of God without permission played at the edges of my mind. At first, I couldn’t find the words to share it ~ but it was too priceless to keep to myself! I had to find a way to share what God so clearly showed me ~ but allowed me to ‘stew it on the back burner’ for awhile! We know that we can approach our Father at any time ~ with confidence and without permission! He wants our love and attention whenever we will take the time, just as any parent wants those things from a child and treasures them dearly in a special place in the heart.
"Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all." Mark 10:15
